CASE STUDY: ALIGNING LEADERSHIP IMPACT: A CUSTOMISED APPROACH TO TEAM DEVELOPMENT

In response to concerns about the performance of their senior leadership team, we were approached by a FTSE100 property developer to design a customised team development programme that would improve the effectiveness of the team’s communication, decision-making and overall leadership performance.

While individually impactful, the team were not working effectively together. Our diagnostics revealed divergent approaches to communicating and decision-making and a general absence of awareness about the advantages and challenges those differences presented. The team also acknowledged the absence of a shared vision which at times caused lack of clarity for their teams.

The programme we developed built individual awareness of their impact on the team’s success, in addition to ensuring they understood their collective influence on overall business performance. The team were challenged to identify the actions they would commit to in order to contribute more effectively to the team. They developed a team charter identifying the way they would work together in future and committed to a shared team vision that was subsequently communicated to their respective teams.
